| The Isle of Man has become one of the preferred locations for individual international investors. They are attracted by the assurance that their investments are well protected, while also enjoying the advantages of a premium Standard & Poor’s AAA rated offshore centre. Like other offshore locations the island offers a very favorable taxation system for investors. Most financial institutions are exempt from corporation, income and capital gains tax. This obviously has a positive effect on the growth of investments. The level of investor protection is similar to mainland UK, with excellent compensation schemes should banks or insurance and finance companies fail. The Isle of Man compensation scheme provides for 90% of an institutions obligations in the event that it is unable to meet its liabilities. There is no upper limit on the amount payable and policy holders are protected wherever they are resident. It should be noted that Brazilian Investor Protection (FDIC) is limited to R,000.
Hansard International, Friends Provident Int., Royal Skandia, Singer & Friedlander and Lloyds TSB are among the many elite financial institutions with operations in the Isle of Man.
